Deleting a Progress Note

A progress note can only be deleted through the schedule by selecting the Patient Not Seen option in the visit submenu. However, if the progress note has already been processed by the Billing department, the Patient Not Seen option will be unavailable.

Only the current provider, their assistant, and administrators have access to change the Patient Seen / Patient Not Seen status.

To make this option accessible again, you must contact the Billing department and request that the billing status of the progress note be changed to Not Billed.

While this process may seem unnecessarily complex, it serves as an important safeguard against human error. Allowing users to delete a progress note with a single click would increase the risk of accidentally removing the wrong note, which could lead to documentation and compliance issues.

How to Find Out Who Deleted a Progress Note?

If the progress note you were working on has suddenly disappeared, contact your Administrator. Administrators have access to the Logs section, where it is always possible to see who else worked on the progress note and who deleted it.
