Billing for services or processing an order involves multiple steps and may take several days to complete. When handled by a single person, this process typically goes smoothly. However, when multiple users work on the same data simultaneously, it can lead to confusion.
To address this, the "Processed by Me" action was introduced. It allows a user to mark a record as being handled by a specific staff member.
Once a user clicks "Processed by Me", their name appears in the Processed By column, indicating to others that the record is already assigned and in progress under that user.
The "Processed by Me" label can only be removed by the user who applied it. This means that if a record is already being processed by one user, no other user can assign themselves to that record until the original user clears the assignment.
Despite the rules above, administrators have special permissions that allow them to override the assignment in the Processed By column. They can replace the current user with another, regardless of who originally marked the record as "Processed by Me."
Marking a record as "Processed by Me" does not lock it for other users. Any user can continue working with the record using the full range of available tools. Additionally, all users have access to the record’s change history by clicking Processing History in the record’s submenu.
